Paths Separating - Letter from Lamia

Hello to you all,

Lamia here wishing you all wellness and connection to Earth and Sky. I have been out of the clinic for the past few weeks and have an update for you all.

With deep breaths and fierce love for Six Degrees, I am announcing that I will be leaving Six Degrees as a co-owner and will no longer be practicing out of the clinic. I will be offering my services again out of a new space as of October 1, 2019.

In me burns an eternal flame for Six Degrees. For 19 years I have been dedicated to offering effective, affordable treatments while growing as a skilled and caring Practitioner of Traditional East Asian Medicine. My share of running of the clinic for the past 10 years has been a personal contribution to community activism for Healing Justice. This past year has been incredibly challenging financially and strategically, and I am accepting that I need to restore my health by stepping down from this role and taking some time off before I launch my solo practice.

The opportunity to make long lasting transformations in the health sector as a Community Acupuncturist and health visionary has been truly phenomenal. I have every faith that the medicine can hold us all and however Six Degrees takes shape next it will be what is best for the community.

This decision was so very hard to make and, in that way that really hard things can sometimes be mysterious gifts, Six Degrees is offering me powerful healing. I have felt devastated in facing this truth, but now feel clear. I know the only constant is change, I know when things end it makes space for new things to grow, but I am a Taurus Sun with a Sagittarius moon and Cancer rising and so I am stubborn and deeply caring and full of aspiration. It took a really big personal rock bottom for me to see that I needed to change, I needed to let go, I needed to ask for more help. Perhaps my biggest regret is that it took so long for me to deeply embody this truth: “We must put our oxygen mask on first if we are to save anyone else at all.”

In all these years, I have learned SO MUCH from all of you, thank you for trusting me with your care thus far and for being such incredible people to work with. You have made me a deeply attentive, thorough, driven and effective health practitioner. I look forward to seeing you again in October and I encourage you to keep receiving care from the folks at Six Degrees while I am off.

I am so sorry for this sudden break and wish I had been able to give more notice to you, my clients, and to the teams at Six Degrees. My commitment is to health for us all. I appreciate your patience and understanding and if you have any questions for me regarding your treatments, or who to work with while I am off, please do email me directly.

With an expansive heart and clear sight I wish you sweet ease, joy and justice. I shall see you in community or in October.

With love and respect,

Lamia Gibson, R. Ac.
