Susanda Celebrating 20 years

Celebrating 20 years of Acupuncture Experience

"I love to relieve pain and correct structural imbalances (spinal, Qi, power)”

I have practiced acupuncture and herbal medicine for the last 20 years and worked as a community acupuncturist for the last 13 years. I am the owner of Six Degrees Community Acupuncture - The first community acupuncture centre in Canada. I started it because I wanted lots and lots of people to experience acupuncture and a Chinese medicine approach to understanding one’s body and health, and how to heal and transform ourselves. I have personally found this medicine life saving and transformative at different stages of my life.

Whether you want a small or big change in your life Acupuncture treatment can help. I aim to offer this possibility to others. I want folks to have the opportunity for change. To feel better in their bodies. Six Degrees is a place for folks to experience their body in a different way. Coming in with a headache and then leaving without one, or a little less of one, is an example of change. Change can also mean big transformative experience in our outlook on life, making changes in our life that allows us to be and feel better. It also means getting support to continue to do the things that work for us. It can help us get back on track to re-focus and re-align ourselves.

I have recently completed a 2200 hour Acupuncture Diploma program and am now back in the clinical clinic full time. This is my second time completing an Acupuncture program. The first time, I graduated as an Acupuncturist and Herbalist in the year 2000. Currently, I no longer practice as an Herbalist and do not offer herbal prescriptions.

In the last three years, I have returned to school to upgrade and requalify to be an Acupuncturist and to enrich my training in the field of Traditional Chinese medicine. Honestly, having to suddenly stop and leave my full-time practice in full swing meant a lot of things. It was a total, 360 degree turn in my practice. It was also a chance to review and learn more about this wondrous medicine. To study it again and to look at it with old eyes but a young heart. Like a new (old) lover I wanted to get to know again. Ask the impossible questions, and have time for the complicated answers. After doing this program a second time I am pleased to let everyone know that indeed this is one of the most powerful medicines on planet Earth.

Why do I have practice with a “Student of Acupuncture” title and designation?

Currently, I am waiting to write the provincial board exam for Acupuncturists. I practice under the designation of “Student of Acupuncture”. I am preparing to write the board exam in the Fall of 2020 and I work under the designation of “Student of Acupuncture”. I am under the supervision of Jen Bowers, registered acupuncturist and Chinese herbal practitioner. My private acupuncture and Spinal Alignment treatments

Beside Community Acupuncture, I also offer a specialty Acupuncture Spinal Alignment Treatment. Utilizing broader options within Chinese Medicine, Susanda incorporates Acupuncture, cupping, moxa, spinal alignment assessment to relieve pain and correct spinal/hip/shoulder alignment. This realignment is good for aches and pains in joints and muscles, and is also effective with treating organ imbalance. When we are in better alignment our internal organs function optimally, thus reducing illness and discomfort. This option is still covered by benefits plans that cover acupuncture.

I have learned much in the way of how trauma and stress are expressed through physical, emotional and spiritual pain. I believe acupuncture to be an effective treatment for healing by restoring balance to emotions, organs and vital energy.

Over the last 25 years I have helped folks with all sorts of health issues from common to unusual. I often work with these conditions and experiences in my clinic:

  • body pain, soreness, tightness, and injuries

  • digestive problems

  • stress, anxiety, and depression

  • reproductive and gynecological health

  • menopause, pre and post and ongoing

  • boosting immunity, colds and flus, sinus issues, allergies and strengthening immunity

  • boosting energy levels

  • managing side effects of drugs and medication

  • concussions, head injuries, headaches, migraines

  • oncentration, focus, and mental clarity

  • pelvic and spinal alignment disorders

Acupuncture treatment can deal with and lessen these states and experiences:

  • Dealing with feelings of grief and loss

  • Feeling stuck and inflexible

  • Feeling overwhelmed by thoughts and emotions

  • Feeling fiery and reactive, rage and venegful

  • Feeling distant, slow, and weighed down either physically and/or mentally-emotionally

  • Feeling surges of irritation, anger and rage

  • Feeling light and insignificant - I am not sure how I am or where I am right now

  • Feeling fearful, untrusting, and cold in my body

  • Feeling paranoid, someone is always watching, and I am aware of everything in the room
